Williston API Achievement Awards Finalists

Williston API announces the first annual Achievement Awards finalists. The Williston Basin Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute (API) is a nonprofit organization comprised of service oriented individuals who serve the local oil and gas industry, as well as the surrounding community.

Williston API Achievement Awards
The Williston API Achievement Awards celebrate the many positive contributions and accomplishments of the oil and gas industry throughout the Williston Basin. The awards recognize the achievements of companies and individuals whose tireless work, innovative solutions, varied business activities, and community involvement produce the energy and economic activity that fuel our communities and country. The three awards to be presented include Industry Innovation, Community Service and Outstanding Achievement.

Award Selection
Nominations were received, reviewed and scored by the award committee established by the Williston API board of directors. The committee determined the top three finalists including the award winner. Enclosed are the three finalists in each category. The winners will be announced at the Williston Petroleum Banquet.

Industry Innovation Award

The Eco Alternative Fuel System is a method that enables operators of heavy-duty diesel engines to substantially reduce operating costs and lower emissions by running dual fuel. The noteworthiness of this application lies in its innovative blending of wellhead gas and diesel fuel for use in drilling rigs and generators on well sites. Utilizing this product reduces flaring and, in many cases, uses an otherwise wasted resource.

Liquid Logistics
The Liquid Logistics’ groundbreaking process of deploying modular frac tanks, or “frac pools,” eliminates the use of cranes allowing for a faster, more efficient and safer tank distribution. Holding up to 40,000 barrels, a single Liquid Logistics tank can replace up to 80 traditional frac tanks and offers several key advantages over traditional water storage methods. These tanks require fewer hoses to manage or cause safety hazards, offer better management of water chemistry and heat retention properties, and reduce truck traffic.

The Omni-Management System is a software program that monitors and informs producers of activities occurring on a particular site. The Omni equipment allows pumpers to observe and record events remotely which greatly reduces the frequency of personal visits to sites. With this system environmental concerns are reduced as are operating costs since the system is able to inform the producer within 60 seconds of an issue so equipment can be repaired in a timely manner.

Community Service Award

Target Logistics
Target Logistics, the largest turnkey workforce housing provider in the United States, is a global resource for cost-effective, customized accommodations and services. Founded in 1978 and employing about 300 people, Target Logistics embraces a keen sense of corporate citizenship towards the communities and environments in which it operates. This is expressed by ongoing contributions to social and educational programs, adherence to strict waste and pollution reduction, and compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards and global norms.

Petroleum Services and Tools
The Petroleum Services family believes that giving back to the community is not only the right thing to do, but it is an obligation they are proud to be a part of. Established in 2003, long before the current boom, they took satisfaction in the community then and continue to carry that into today. They understand the importance of giving area children and teens the opportunity to enjoy healthy alternatives and encouraging the experience of life outside of North Dakota. They believe in investing in local schools and churches because our youth will be tomorrow’s leaders.

Stat Oil/Brigham Exploration
Statoil has endeavored to promote a positive attitude between the community and the oil industry. Providing use of their facility for various community events and speaking requests has been extremely beneficial in promoting our State and industry. Statoil is always willing to help with community projects, financially or physically, to promote the wellness of the area. With only 18 employees, the local office was able to initiate ditch cleanup by encouraging other companies to take an active part in successfully cleaning up Williams County and the surrounding communities.

Outstanding Achievement

J.R. “Buck” Scheele
J. R. “Buck” began his journey at the age of 17 when he hitchhiked into North Dakota to work as a roughneck in the newly-discovered oil patch. Buck eventually partnered with the Pitman brothers, and together they purchased a company by the name of WISCO in 1967. He then took possession in 1980 and continued to grow his company into one of the largest privately owned oilfield service companies in the Williston Basin. With his primary business, and his investment in and support of other businesses, Buck helped to increase employment opportunities in the area as well as growing the number of entrepreneurs who have developed companies, expanded services, and invested in additional projects and ventures.

Continental Resources
Continental Resources is a Top 10 petroleum liquids producer in the United States and the largest producer in the Bakken Play. Continental has shown leadership in the energy industry and paved the way for expanded developments. They have made giant leaps in technology; exploring additional formations and testing the separate Three Forks benches has increased the potential proven reserves and estimated recoverable resources. They are seen as a leader in the Williston Basin and watched closely by other producers, the energy industry, and the investment community.

Kathleen Neset
Kathleen Neset, a New Jersey native, has decades of experience working and living in North Dakota. As President of Neset Consulting Service and co-owner of Neset Farms, Kathy is often called upon to present, educate, and advocate on behalf of the industry and North Dakota. She presents clear, concise and compelling information on the responsible development of energy in the Bakken. As both a geologist and a farmer/rancher, her voice carries credibility and accuracy of information that benefits not only the oil and gas industry, but landowners and the state.

Award Presentation
The 2012 Williston API Achievement Awards will be presented at the Williston Petroleum Banquet to be held October 10, 2012 at Williston State College. All finalists will be recognized at the banquet with the award recipients being announced during the program.
