40th Annual Chili Cook-off

The 2021 Chili Cook-off is in the books and was a huge success. Thank you to our teams and all of our sponsors that make this successful! You know it’s a successful event when you see 51 cars in the parking lot, that they took advantage of the free taxis and cabs we offered to everyone throughout the night! We’d like to thank City Taxi and Mr. Cab/Taxi for taking care of the people who wanted a ride home!! We also want to thank the Williston Police Department for watching over our venue and we’re happy to report another successful, event free night.
The combined teams helped raise $45,000 with Liberty Oilfield Services winning the MVT Most Valuable Team Award for the second year in a row and fifth time in seven years.

The weather didn’t slow down the public from coming out, over 1,000 people attended the 40th Annual Chili Cook-off. The 21 teams were able to raise almost $16,000 towards the Bakken Bread Winner with SandPro LLC winning the award.

We had a new winner on the Chili Games, Crysie Hendershott designed five teams and when the smoke cleared 1st Place went to NexTier Completion Services and 2nd Place went to Evolutions Completion.

With over 1,000 fans attending, the Fans Favorite Award went to MDU Resources & Nova Oilfield Services. MWEC & VFW Williston Post 12169 won the best chili judged by a panel of nine judges. Then 2nd Place went to Torcsill, 3rd Place went to Liberty Oilfield Services, 4th Place went to a new team Canary, 5th Place went to Black Magic Harley Davidson & Ace’s Energy Services, and 6th Place went to SandPro LLC.

The prestigious booth awards were again tight this year, Liberty Oilfield Services won Best Decorated Booth with Team Interaction and MWEC/VFW won Best Decorated Booth.

The API Board of Directors would like to thank the 21 teams:

All in Oilfield Services & G-Style, Black Magic Harley Davidson & Aces, Canary LLC, Chamley Pipe & Salvage, Creedence Energy Services, Dynasty Energy Services, Evolution Completions, Liberty Oilfield Services, MDU & Nova Oilfield Services, MWEC & VFW Williston Post 12169, NexTier Completion Solutions, Nuverra, Oasis Petroleum, Pruit & Beacon, Rev Energy Services & Dakota Chemical, Sand Pro LLC, SPM Oil & Gas, Torcsill, Walt's Market, Williston Auto & Rugby Homes, and Williston Fire & Safety.

We’d also like to thank Bras For A Cause, Jenny Miller with the Kitchen, Studio 89, Tangled Roots Photography, and Busters Bar. Of Course, Judd Hoos didn’t disappoint the audience, and we had the pleasure of having Art Martinez with DJ Empire handling sound throughout the day and night for us.

I’d like to thank the best board of directors I’ve worked with: Jared Iverson, Kerri Espeland, Jonathan Iblings, Crysie Hendershott, Dewey Bailey, Brom Lutz, Carl Hirsch, Jared Medhurst. This team steps up to the plate and goes above and beyond even when we don’t need it. We moved the chili cook off location and we had a lot of uncertainties and they stepped up and made it run seamless. It’s been my pleasure to serve on this board and as President for the last decade, with 2022 coming sooner we will have new leadership with Jared Iverson. I’ll stick around to help but from the back seat at least for a year or two.
