Monthly Meeting Recap - February 2021

The Williston Basin Chapter of API held their February General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, February 9th at the Four Points by Sheraton. Ken Callahan gave a general introduction, called the meeting to order and asked for attendees to introduce themselves. Kristin Iverson from Thrivent gave an introduction as the Sponsor, she’ll be doing free webinars on February 15th and February 16th on “Learning how to protect your retirement plans”. The membership approved the second reading of Donations For 2021 Giving Hearts Day was presented to donate $1,000 each to Williston Salvation Army, Williston Boy Scouts Chapter, Williston Trinity Christian School, Upper Missouri Ministries (UMM), Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, Upper Missouri Relay for Life, and $4,000 to Make A Wish for a total of $10,000. They also approved $1,000 for both Babe Ruth World Series to be hosted in Williston in Summer of 2022 and the Williston Band Booster Club. 

Ken discussed the 40th Annual Chili Cook-off with a new location at the Raymond Center, with the band Judd Hoos main attraction. They are looking for a local band to play during the afternoon. Admission is $10. Of course we have 22 chili teams including 10 new teams all competing on the Best Chili, Fan Favorite Chili, Best Decorated Booth, Best Interactive Booth and Team, Best Team at the Chili Games, Bakken Bread Winner, and Most Valuable Team (MVT). 

Ken discussed the unveiling of the Oil and Gas Bronze Statue at WSC will be this Spring before John Miller leaves as President. More information at the April 6th meeting. 

Darren Schmidt with the UND EERC presented about what they are doing and the effects that research has on policy making. North Dakota is leading the way on intelligent pipeline integrity (iPIPE), success of increased gas capture and upcoming Rich Gas EOR and Refrac Optimization.
