Monthly Meeting Recap - December 2019
Wednesday, December 4, 2019

Our monthly meeting was held Tuesday, December 3rd. The meeting room was packed to listen and see the program from Jared Iverson from Oasis Petroleum. We had to bring more chairs in to accommodate the crowd. After dinner we provided a recap from the Williston Basin Chapter Awards Banquet and power point from the night. The members that weren’t able to attend really appreciated the update. We only recognize our industry one a year and to recap the awards was appreciated.

Donations

We approved the following donations and sponsorships:
  • Military Affairs Committee for Veterans
  • Ports to Plains Sponsorship
  • All City Halloween Party Williston
  • Entertainment Inc.

We provided final update on us celebrating giving One Million Dollars to the community through Scholarships, endowments, and donations over the last eight years.

Make-A-Wish is celebrating 35 years this December and asked for Make-A-Wish Hero’s to donate $1,000. Since we donate every year for the past several years we agreed to step up and donate $1,000 and asked other companies, organizations, or people to help then raise the $35,000 for the Make-A-Wish program.

We recognized all of the Veterans in the room and thanked them for their service. We were asked to notify our members the Veteran’s Assistance Fund helps Veterans. They’re looking for food donations of non-perishable items families would need over the holidays such as:
  • Soups
  • Mac-n-cheese
  • Spaghetti
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned meats like tuna fish, chicken, or spam
  • Any type of noodles
  • Various items

The Veteran's Assistance Fund provide veterans with gift cards to Cash Wish, that API donates, and other financial assistance if needed. Any company wanted to help and can donate these items, contact Grant Carns at 577-4550 or GrantC@co.williams.nd.us. If any companies want to take up a collection Grant will pick them up from your company if needed.

We discussed the goal for 2020 is for our chapter to pay off the Oil Monument at WSC of $10,000. In the spring there will be a dedication ceremony and we’ll have our members attend the event. Once that is done we have to finish paying for the WSC Endowments we committed to for $75,000.

The last order of business discussed was our annual elections are taking place at our next meeting on Tuesday, January 7th. The three year terms for Ken Callahan and Carl Hirsch are up, along with a vacant seat for one year and one for three years. If anyone is interested in joining our board or learning more about it please contact any of the board members. They can be found on our website under about us and board members.
